Are Bathroom Floor Tiles Slippery?
Bathroom floor tiles can be slippery, which is why slip resistance ratings exist. In Australia, tiles are rated for slip resistance using the P-rating system (P1 through P5) and the R-rating system for industrial applications. For bathroom floors, the minimum recommended rating is P3 for wet areas.
A higher P-rating means more grip, but it also usually means a more textured surface that's harder to clean. We see P3 go into most residential bathrooms as a good balance between safety and ease of cleaning.
We'd suggest checking the P-rating on any floor tile before ordering for a bathroom, particularly if the bathroom is used by older residents or children.
