Modern Bathroom Shaving Cabinets

Buildmat stocks modern shaving cabinets and shaving mirrors across every size, finish, and configuration Australian bathrooms need - from compact LED shaving cabinets with built-in energy efficient lighting to full-width mirrored bathroom cabinets above a double vanity.

Find sleek pill and arch shapes, matte white and matte black frames, or warm natural oak tones to complement your vanity top and bathroom tapware. Brands like Aulic and Otti offer premium bathroom mirror cabinets that combine style with generous storage space. Each piece adds a modern touch to your ensuite or main bathroom while maintaining a cohesive design with other bathroom accessories.

Practical Shaving Cabinet Features and Smart Lighting

LED shaving cabinets make early mornings easier. Built-in LED lighting highlights your reflection evenly and adds atmosphere to your bathroom. Soft-close hinges, adjustable shelves, and concealed power points help keep essentials like your toothbrush or razor neatly organised. Every cabinet is crafted for functionality and ease of use, with options to suit small or spacious layouts.

What to Check Before You Buy

Width relative to your vanity

The cabinet should sit within the vanity width or match it exactly. Going wider looks intentional; going narrower rarely does. Most of our range runs from 450mm to 1800mm - measure the wall space between any vertical obstructions (light switches, windows, adjacent walls) before you filter.

We see this come up constantly: customers assume a 900mm vanity needs a 900mm cabinet, then find a window trim cuts the usable width to 820mm. Measure the wall, not the vanity.

Wall-mounted vs. recessed

All cabinets in this collection are wall-mounted and surface-fixed. Recessed installation (set into the wall cavity) is possible with most models but requires checking wall type and stud placement with your tiler or carpenter before ordering. Surface-fixed is the cleaner choice for tiled walls where cutting in isn't practical.

LED or non-LED

LED shaving cabinets need a power point inside the wall cavity or a licensed sparky to run a concealed cable before the cabinet goes on the wall. If the electrical rough-in is already done, LED is worth the upgrade - it removes the need for a separate vanity light above the mirror. If you're tiling first and running power later, you'll need to plan the cable route before the tiles go on.

Copper-free mirror glass

Most cabinets in this range use copper-free mirror glass. This matters in bathrooms with high humidity - copper-backing on standard mirrors can oxidise at the edges over time, producing dark spots. Check individual product specs if longevity in a wet area is a priority.

Adjustable shelves and door clearance

Standard interior depth is 100-150mm, which fits most toiletries. Check shelf count and whether shelves are adjustable before buying if you have tall items (electric toothbrushes, cologne bottles). Also confirm door swing direction - most open outward and need clear space in front.

Finish matching

Matte black and matte white shaving cabinets are the most forgiving across mixed tapware finishes. Brushed nickel and brushed gold frames need more deliberate coordination with existing fixtures. Natural oak and black oak fronts work across most neutral bathrooms without committing to a single metal finish.

Shaving Cabinet Prices at Buildmat

Entry-level mirror shaving cabinets without LED start from around $350-450 for a 600mm unit. Most popular 900mm cabinets - LED, natural oak, or matte black - sit in the $500-$750 range. Larger formats (1200mm-1800mm) with LED lighting and premium finishes run from around $900 to $1,800+. Factor in an electrician if your wall doesn't already have a power point in position.

Finish Your Bathroom Renovation with Buildmat

A shaving cabinet works hardest when the rest of the bathroom is resolved. If you're still selecting:

  • Bathroom vanities - coordinate cabinet width with your vanity for a pulled-together look

  • Bathroom tapware - match or contrast your cabinet frame finish with basin and shower tapware

  • Bathroom mirrors - if you want a separate decorative mirror in addition to the shaving cabinet

  • Towel rails - keep the finish consistent across all metal fixtures

  • Bathroom accessories - toilet roll holders, robe hooks, and soap dispensers to complete the set

  • Otti shaving cabinets — Otti's range covers the broadest finish spread we stock - natural oak, black oak, woodland oak, sable walnut, matte white, and matte black across the Newport, Byron, Bondi, Archie, Noosa, London, and Marlo ranges. Most come in standard and LED Premium Edition variants. The Newport and Bondi ranges extend to 1800mm for double-width installations.
  • Aulic shaving cabinets — Aulic focuses on the arch category - the Canterbury Arch and Vienna are the main lines, available in matte white, Carita, Mia, and Max finishes. LED versions are available with optional brushed gold frame trim. The Bella range adds a rectangular option with optional side boards for a built-in look.
  • Fienza shaving cabinets — Fienza brings copper-free glass as standard across their range, with pencil edge detailing on most models. A reliable choice for longevity in high-humidity ensuites.
  • Remer — Italian-designed, LED as standard across the range. The Amber series (900mm, silver aluminium frame, 2 or 3-door) is the closest to a standard rectangular cabinet; Pearl and Piazza are frameless round and rounded-rectangle designs built into the same footprint as Remer's Sphere mirror. All three include a demister, touch sensor, and soft-close doors, and can be semi-recessed or wall-mounted.

Shaving cabinet finishes - particularly the timber veneers and matte black frames with LED - read quite differently in person than on a screen. If you're renovating and want to see proportions and finish quality before committing, our Warrigal Rd Selection Centre in Hughesdale is open by appointment, Monday to Friday.

Our Dandenong showroom is also available Monday to Friday, 9am-4pm, if you're in the south-east.

FAQS

A shaving cabinet doubles as a mirror and storage unit. Unlike standard bathroom mirrors, it keeps toiletries and grooming tools hidden behind the mirror for a cleaner, more organised look.
Yes. Our LED shaving cabinets use low-energy lighting that lasts thousands of hours, providing bright, even illumination while keeping your power bills low.
Most modern shaving cabinets arrive ready to install or with minimal assembly required. For wall-mounted units, it’s best to have them fitted by a licensed tradesperson to ensure alignment and secure mounting.
Match the cabinet width to your vanity or the usable wall space above it. Most single vanities take a 600-900mm cabinet; double vanities typically work best with 1200-1500mm. Measure between any obstructions on the wall before deciding.
Surface-mounted (non-LED) cabinets are a straightforward DIY fix if you're comfortable locating studs and drilling into tile. LED shaving cabinets require a power point inside the wall - that part needs a licensed electrician. We'd get the electrical rough-in sorted before tiling if it's part of a renovation.
