Shop LED bathroom mirrors by shape
-
Round LED mirrors - circular format; the most popular LED mirror shape in Australian bathrooms right now; suits arch basins, curved vanities, and soft-edged bathrooms
-
Arch LED mirrors - softened top edge; suits Hamptons, coastal, and contemporary bathrooms; the Aulic Canterbury Arch range is the main arch LED option we stock
-
Pill LED mirrors - fully rounded top and bottom; a softer alternative to a rectangle; suits curved vanities and arch basins
-
Rectangle LED mirrors - the standard format for above a double vanity; available in frameless and framed options
-
Oval LED mirrors - portrait oval format; suits smaller vanities and powder rooms
Shop LED mirrors by frame finish
-
Frameless LED mirrors - edge-to-edge glass; the most versatile option across finishes and styles; suits any tapware finish
-
Matte black frame mirrors - strong contrast; suits contemporary and industrial-style bathrooms
-
Brushed gold frame mirrors - warm metallic finish; pairs with natural oak vanities and warm stone tiles
-
Brushed brass mirrors - slightly richer and warmer than brushed gold; suits heritage and Hamptons interiors
-
Brushed nickel mirrors - warm silver finish; the most versatile frame finish across bathroom palettes
-
Gunmetal mirrors - dark smoky metallic; suits grey and charcoal tile schemes
-
Matte white mirrors - tonal finish against white tiles; suits minimal and all-white bathrooms
Buildmat tip: frameless LED mirrors read larger on the wall than a framed mirror of the same dimensions - the edge-lit surround creates a floating effect that adds more visual space than a mirror with a visible frame border. Worth considering in smaller bathrooms.
LED mirror features explained
Backlit vs frontlit
A backlit LED mirror has LEDs behind the mirror glass - the light glows around the mirror edge, creating an ambient halo effect. A frontlit (or front-illuminated) LED mirror has LEDs at the front face of the mirror, providing direct illumination onto the face for grooming and makeup application. Many mirrors in our range combine both backlit and frontlit LEDs for ambient and task lighting in one unit.
Anti-fog demister pad
A demister pad is a heating element bonded to the back of the mirror glass that prevents fogging in steamy bathrooms. It activates when the mirror is switched on and typically clears within 30-60 seconds. If you shower in an enclosed bathroom without an exhaust fan, a demister pad is the practical choice - wiping a fogged mirror every morning is a real irritant that costs nothing to avoid at purchase.
Touch sensor / touch switch
Most LED mirrors use a touch-sensitive zone on the mirror face to control power, dimming, and colour temperature. Some use a separate wall switch. Confirm the control type before ordering if you're planning a concealed wiring installation.
Adjustable colour temperature
Higher-end LED mirrors offer adjustable colour temperature - typically 3000K (warm white) to 6000K (cool daylight). Warm is better for relaxed evening use; cool daylight is better for makeup and grooming accuracy. If you use the mirror for both, adjustable colour temperature is worth the upgrade.
Copper-free mirror glass
Standard mirrors use copper-backed glass that can develop dark oxidation spots at the edges over time in humid bathrooms. Copper-free mirror glass resists this. Check individual product specs if longevity in a wet area is a priority - most LED mirrors in our range use copper-free glass, but confirm before ordering.
Energy-efficient LED lighting
All LED mirrors in our range use energy-efficient LED lighting - significantly lower power consumption than halogen or fluorescent vanity lighting. Most models include an auto cut-off after 1.5 hours as a standard feature.
What to check before you buy
Mirror size relative to vanity width: The mirror should sit within the vanity width or match it. Going wider by 50-100mm is intentional; going narrower looks wrong. For a double vanity, confirm whether you want one wide mirror or two individual mirrors - two mirrors allow for independent lighting zones but require two separate wiring connections.
Power point requirement: LED mirrors require a GPO or concealed wiring connection. Most are hardwired - that means a licensed electrician needs to run a cable before the tiles go on. If your bathroom renovation doesn't include an electrician, add one to the scope before tiling. A surface-mounted power point behind the mirror is the retrofit option if the wall is already tiled.
We see this regularly: the mirror is ordered and installed, then the electrician points out there's no GPO behind the wall and the cable needs to run through the tiles. Route the cable before tiling. It's a 20-minute job during rough-in and a significant one after.
IP rating: LED mirrors for use directly above a basin or in a wet area should carry an appropriate IP rating (IP44 minimum for Zone 2 in Australian bathrooms). Check individual product specs - most LED mirrors in our range are rated for bathroom use, but confirm if you're placing the mirror in a shower zone.
Shaving cabinet vs LED mirror: If you need storage as well as lighting, an LED shaving cabinet combines both in one wall-mounted unit. If you have separate storage or just need a display mirror, a standalone LED mirror is the cleaner look. The mirror shaving cabinets collection covers both LED and non-LED options.
