Black Door Handles
Buildmat stocks black door handles for renovators, builders and homeowners across Australia. The black internal door handles range covers round black door handles, square black door handles, privacy, passage, entrance and dummy sets, flush pulls for sliding doors and wardrobes, and cavity sliding door locks, in both zinc alloy (Alma, Zanda) and solid brass (Momo Handles) construction. We also stock black smart door locks. Buildmat ships the full range Australia wide. Filter by handle type, shape and brand above to narrow things down.

-
Privacy lever sets: Have an integrated lock and turn snib, suited to bathrooms and bedrooms. The Zanda Epic, Apollo and Duke ranges all come in privacy configuration, alongside Momo Handles' solid brass Belgravia.
-
Passage lever sets: No lock — the right call for hallways, laundries and other internal door handles that don't need privacy. The same Zanda and Alma ranges as the privacy sets, just without the snib.
-
Entrance lever sets: A full set for front door handles and back doors, sometimes paired with a deadbolt. Zanda Epic, Vector and Trident all come in entrance configuration, and the solid brass Momo Belgravia entrance set sits at the top of the range.
-
Pull handles: The Zanda Duke Pull Handle comes in 300mm, 600mm and 900mm lengths — for front doors, pivot doors, or anywhere you want a substantial pull handle rather than a lever.
-
Dummy handles: Fixed, non-functioning dummy levers for doors that don't need a working latch — wardrobes, cupboards and decorative panels. Available across most of the same ranges as the functioning sets, so you can match the look without paying for hardware you don't need.
-
Sliding door handles and locks: The Alma Cam Cavity Sliding Door Lock is built specifically for internal cavity sliding doors, and Zanda's disabled privacy turn adapts a sliding door for accessible compliance.
What we'd check before you buy
-
Material. Most of this range is zinc alloy with a matte black finish, which is standard for this price point and holds up well indoors. Momo Handles' Belgravia and Bellevue ranges are genuinely solid brass, which costs more but is worth it for high-traffic entrance doors or if you want the weight and feel of solid metal. Customers who pick up a zinc alloy lever next to a solid brass one in the showroom usually notice the weight difference straight away (the brass has a denser, more substantial action when you push it down).
-
Passage vs privacy. We see renovators order privacy sets for every internal door by default, then realise partway through that laundries, linen cupboards and hallways don't actually need a lock. Passage sets cost less and there's no functional downside — worth checking your door list before ordering the whole house in privacy configuration.
-
Pull handle length and door swing. On a narrower hallway or robe door, the longer pull handles — the Duke at 600mm or 900mm — can clear the door but still sit close to an adjacent wall or frame once the door's fully open. Worth checking your swing clearance before choosing the longer lengths, especially on a double door set.
-
Rose size and door thickness. Zanda's lever sets are built for a 54mm rose and standard Australian door thickness (32-50mm). Check this against your existing door prep before ordering, especially if you're replacing hardware on an older door.
-
Handing. Left-hand and right-hand configurations matter for privacy and entrance sets with a lock. Check the product listing specifies the handing you need, or whether it's reversible.
-
Matching your other hardware. If you're running matte black door hardware through the whole house, the Zanda and Alma ranges have matching door stops, door hinges, door knobs and black cabinet handles, so you can keep one finish consistent from the front door to the kitchen.
-
Commercial applications. If you need fire-rated or accessible-compliant hardware for a commercial fitout, the Zanda Phoenix CL Series covers classroom, storeroom, vestibule and communicating door configurations in matte black.
-
Mortice locks and security screen doors. If you need a mortice lock or a smart screen door lock in matte black, see Yale's smart door locks.
