Buildmat stocks door handles for renovators, builders and homeowners across Australia. The range covers more than colour: internal door handles, front door handles, linear door handles, door knobs, lever sets, flush pulls, privacy sets, passage sets, dummy handles, deadbolts and smart locks. Whether you are replacing one worn handle or creating a full door schedule for a new home, start with what each door needs to do, then narrow the look down by profile, material and finish.

Shop door handles by type

  • Lever door handles — the standard for internal door handles and entry doors, available as passage, privacy, or entrance sets.

  • Door knobs — a rounder, more traditional alternative to a lever, suited to heritage homes.

  • Door pull handles — bar and D-shaped pulls from Momo, Lockwood, and Alma, for statement doors and joinery.

  • Sliding door handles — flush pulls and edge pulls for cavity sliders, plus mortice locks and deadbolts for surface-mounted sliding doors.

  • Passage door handles — no lock, just a latch, for hallways and internal doors.

  • Privacy door handles and sets — a built-in snib or push-button lock for bathrooms and bedrooms.

  • Entrance door handle sets — keyed entrance handles for front and exterior doors.

What we'd check before you buy

  • Function first, finish second. Confirm whether the door needs a passage set, privacy set, or a keyed entrance set before you commit to a finish, since not every style comes in every function.

  • Match your door thickness. Most residential doors are 35-45mm, but check yours before ordering, especially on older homes with heritage doors.

  • Cavity slider or surface-mounted? Flush pulls only work in a true cavity slider, since anything that protrudes will catch the wall pocket. Edge pulls work on both.

  • Order a full set, not just the lever. A complete passage or privacy set includes the latch and rose or backplate; entrance sets need a compatible mortice lock or deadbolt for extra security.

Door locks and smart entry hardware

When to choose door handles with locks

A common question we get is whether all door handles come with the lock. Sometimes they do, and sometimes they don't. It depends on the product and the type of door.

If you’re shopping for a door handle with lock, door handles and locks or a full door lock handle set, check what’s included. You may need a latch, privacy bolt, deadbolt, mortice lock or smart lock depending on the door.

For front doors, side entries, apartments and short-stay properties, customers often ask about keyless entry. That’s where smart door locks and Yale Locks can be worth looking at.

Before ordering, check the door thickness, backset and lock compatibility. If you’re not sure, we’d always recommend confirming it with your builder, carpenter or installer.

Don’t forget hinges and door stops

A new handle can look unfinished if the hinges and door stops don’t match. If you’re updating several doors, it’s worth checking door hinges and door stops at the same time. This is especially important if you’re changing from chrome or silver to black, brass, bronze

Door handle prices at Buildmat

Passage and privacy lever sets in zinc alloy start from around $55 to $90. Solid brass passage and privacy sets, most Lockwood ranges, and door knobs sit from around $70 to $180. Flush pulls and edge pulls for sliding doors run from around $50 to $150. Entrance sets with a keyed lock or deadbolt start from around $150 up to $300+ for solid brass or premium finishes.

Complete the space

  • Cabinet handles — carry the same finish through to your kitchen or vanity.

  • Door hardware — hinges and door stops to finish the job.

  • Other door furniture – shop door hinges and door hardware to pull your door together.

Door handle brands we recommend to customers

Lockwood door handles

We recommend Lockwood door handles when customers want something reliable and familiar. They’re a strong option for everyday homes, investment properties and projects where the mechanism matters as much as the look.

Momo Handles

Momo Handles are popular when people want something more architectural or design-led. We see them used a lot in modern renovations, especially when the handles need to match cabinetry or tapware finishes.

Zanda, Alma and Yale

We also stock Zanda, Alma Handles and Yale Locks, so customers can compare different looks, price points and functions in one place.

Flush pulls and dummy handles sit at the lower end of the range, generally from around $25 to $70. Internal passage and privacy handles in chrome, black, brushed brass, brushed nickel, gunmetal, bronze and antique brass typically run from around $69 to $129, depending on the range and construction. Premium lever sets with lock included sit higher, while cavity sliding locks and flush pulls offer a more compact solution for sliding doors. The exact price depends on the material, handle function and whether the lock hardware is included.

Finish differences between brushed brass, antique brass, bronze and gunmetal are hard to judge online, and the weight and return action of a handle matters as much as the image. Visits are by appointment only, and our team can help you confirm finish, function, lock compatibility and fit before you order.

FAQS

Passage handles have no lock, just a latch. Privacy handles add a snib or push-button lock, for bathrooms and bedrooms.
Yes, in most cases. Standard lever sets suit 35-45mm doors, which covers the majority of Australian homes, but check your door thickness before ordering.
For front doors, choose a handle that suits the size and weight of the door, feels solid in the hand and works with your locking hardware. Many people prefer a more substantial entry handle or a handle set that pairs neatly with a smart lock, deadbolt or entrance lock. Finish also matters because front door handles help set the tone for the rest of the home.
No. Flush pulls suit true cavity sliders, where nothing can protrude past the door edge. A surface-mounted sliding door usually takes an edge pull or a mortice lock instead.
Not always. An entrance set includes a keyed lever handle and lock. A deadbolt is a separate, additional lock some entrance sets include and others don't, worth adding for extra security on a front door.
