Explore laundry cabinets by type

  • Base cabinets — floor-standing laundry storage cabinets available from 415mm to 1300mm wide. The base cabinet is where the sink sits and where the bulk of under-bench storage lives. Available in the Otti Byron/Bondi and Otti Havana ranges across natural oak, black oak and sable walnut.
  • Wall cabinets — wall-mounted upper cabinets for storage above the bench or washing machine. Available in 415mm and 630mm widths in the Havana range. Adds laundry storage without taking up floor space, which matters in compact laundry areas.
  • Tall boy / washing machine cabinets — full-height cabinets designed to sit alongside a top-loader or front-loader washing machine. The Otti Havana Sable Walnut tall cabinet at 2100mm gives you floor-to-ceiling storage in a single unit and is the most space-efficient way to add laundry storage in a tight laundry area.
  • Mini laundry kits — compact cabinet, stone top and sink in a single purchase at 430mm or 650mm width. The most popular option for apartment renovations, small laundries and European-style laundry areas where floor space is limited. Available in Hampshire White, Bondi White, Noosa White, Marlo Black, Hampshire Matte Black, Byron/Bondi Natural Oak, Byron/Bondi Black Oak and Havana Sable Walnut.
  • Full laundry cabinet sets (Package Kits) — base cabinet, wall cabinet, stone top and sink configured as a complete laundry in three widths: 1305mm, 1715mm and 1960mm. Package Kits A, B and C offer different storage and bench configurations within each width. The most efficient way to fit out a full laundry renovation from a single order.

What we'd check before you buy a laundry cabinet

Measure appliance clearance first

The most common planning mistake we see is a cabinet layout that looks fine on paper but makes the washing machine door difficult to open or leaves no room to move a laundry basket. Measure your machine door swing and your walkway width before committing to a base cabinet width. A 1300mm base cabinet in a 1600mm-wide laundry leaves 300mm of circulation space — tight once a basket is in the room.

Confirm plumbing positions before ordering

Tap and waste outlet positions will determine where the sink can sit and which cabinet configuration works. If your plumbing is already roughed in and fixed, make sure the cabinet and sink you order align with those positions before purchasing. Changing a waste outlet after tiling is expensive.

Topmount or undermount sink

Topmount laundry sinks drop into the benchtop and are the most straightforward installation — they work with laminate tops and most stone tops. Undermount laundry sinks sit below the benchtop surface for a cleaner look but require a stone or solid surface benchtop that can be cut and finished at the opening. The Otti cabinet kits include a stone top, so undermount installation is supported across the full range.

Base cabinet height vs washing machine height

Standard Otti laundry base cabinets sit at a benchtop height of around 900mm. If your washing machine is a top-loader, check that the benchtop height doesn't interfere with the lid opening — most top-loaders need at least 700mm of clearance above the lid. A tall washing machine cabinet positioned beside the machine rather than above it avoids this issue entirely.

Wall cabinet load and wall construction

Wall-mounted wall cabinets need to be fixed into studs or with appropriate wall anchors. Plasterboard-only fixing isn't sufficient for a cabinet carrying cleaning products and laundry supplies. Confirm your wall construction before ordering and plan the fixing with your installer.

Laundry cabinet prices at Buildmat

Individual base cabinets start from around $660–$780 for smaller 415mm–630mm widths and run to around $1,876–$2,415 for wider 1060mm–1300mm formats in the Havana range. Wall cabinets sit in the $490–$570 range. The tall washing machine cabinet is around $1,026. Mini laundry kits (cabinet, top and sink) start from around $1,000–$1,105. Full laundry package kits covering base cabinets, wall cabinets, stone top and sink run from around $2,500 for the 1305mm configuration up to around $5,200 for the largest Havana 1960mm kit. Whatever the budget, factor in laundry tapware and installation separately.

FAQS

A laundry cabinet is the storage unit itself, while a laundry sink cabinet combines storage with a built-in sink or tub area. If the sink is doing regular work in the room, the combined option is often the better fit.
That depends on your room width, machine position, plumbing locations and how much bench space you want to keep. Smaller laundries usually work better with a tighter footprint, while larger laundries can handle a broader cabinet-and-sink layout.
A base cabinet is the storage unit only — you source the sink, top and tapware separately. A mini laundry kit bundles the cabinet, stone top and a laundry sink in a single purchase, which is the more convenient option if you're fitting out a new laundry from scratch and want everything to match without sourcing each piece separately.
For tight laundry areas, a 430mm mini kit is the most space-efficient option — it fits a small sink and cabinet into a minimal footprint. For a slightly more generous layout with room for open shelving or a wall cabinet above, a 650mm mini kit or a 630mm base cabinet gives you more bench space without significantly increasing the floor footprint.
Yes, as long as the cabinet doesn't extend over the machine. A tall washing machine cabinet positioned beside the machine — rather than above it — is the safest configuration for top-loaders. Standard base cabinets at bench height sit beside the machine without interfering with the lid.
