Sliding Door Handles
Buildmat stocks sliding door pull handles and sliding door hardware for renovators, builders and homeowners across Australia, covering flush pulls, edge pulls and cavity door handles that sit flat rather than protrude. Whether you're fitting out one room or running matching hardware through a whole renovation, filter by type and finish above.
Sliding door handles we stock
-
Flush pull handle: Alma's Orla oval and Sachi square flush pulls sit recessed into the door face, the standard choice for cavity sliders where nothing can protrude past the door edge.
-
Edge pulls (finger pulls): Zanda's Sliding Door Edge Pull routs into the leading edge of the door rather than the face, for a cleaner look on a barn-style or surface-mounted sliding door as well as a cavity slider.
-
Concealed hook pull handles: Alma's Hazel gives you something to actually hook a finger into, useful where a flush pull alone is hard to grip.
-
Cavity door handles: Alma's Cam Cavity Sliding Door Lock combines a pull with a privacy snib, for bathroom and bedroom cavity doors that need to lock.
-
Sliding door mortice locks and lock kits: Zanda's Sliding Door Mortice Lock and Duke Sliding Door Lock Kit (120mm or 250mm) are heavier-duty options for entry-level security on a sliding door, not just a privacy snib.
-
Sliding door indicator locks: Metlam's Sliding Door Indicator Lock shows an occupied/vacant indicator, the type you'd see on a commercial or accessible bathroom door.
-
Accessible privacy turns: Zanda's Disabled Privacy Turn adapts a sliding door privacy snib for accessible compliance.
What we'd check before you buy
-
Flush vs edge vs protruding. A flush pull is the only option that works inside a true cavity slider, since anything that sticks out will catch the wall as the door slides past. An edge pull works on cavity sliders too, but it's also the better-looking option if your door runs on a surface-mounted track instead.
-
Door thickness. Before we recommend a flush pull, we check the door thickness first. Most flush pulls need at least 35mm to recess into without the fixing showing through the other face — thinner doors, like some wardrobe panels, need a shallower option.
-
Pull position on a cavity slider. We've seen pulls mounted too close to the leading edge catch on the wall pocket opening, or pinch fingers when the door's fully open. Worth checking the pull sits far enough back from the edge before you commit to a fixing position.
-
Does the door actually need a lock? A passage-style flush pull is fine for a wardrobe or linen cupboard. Bathrooms and bedrooms need the privacy snib built into something like the Cam Cavity Lock, not just a plain pull.
-
Lock kit length. The Duke kit comes in 120mm and 250mm — the difference isn't just aesthetic, the longer kit gives a more secure throw for doors where you want more than a privacy-level lock.
-
Matching finishes across brands. Alma's "Brushed Brass Gold" and Zanda's "Satin Brass" are close but not identical in person. If you're matching a flush pull to door hardware from a different brand, check a sample of both before ordering for a whole house.
