We supply brushed nickel basin mixers to home renovators and builders across Australia, from short, tall, wall, hob, sensor, progressive, and basin-set options. Brushed nickel is a very easy finish to build a bathroom around. It's softer than chrome, less high-contrast than black, and works comfortably with white ceramics, warm timber vanities, natural stone, and cooler grey tiles.

  • Short basin mixers: A standard-height mixer is the right fit for most inset and undermount basins. It keeps the water stream comfortably within a lower bowl and is the simplest choice for a conventional vanity installation.
  • Tall basin mixers: Tall, tower, vessel, and extended basin mixers are made for above-counter basins. The added height clears the basin rim, but it is worth checking the spout projection too, not just the overall height.
  • Wall-mounted basin mixers: Wall mixers keep the vanity top uncluttered and give you control over where the spout lands in the bowl. They are particularly good with vessel basins, slim vanity tops, and bathrooms where you want the mixer to feel more architectural.
  • Hob-mounted taps and mixers: Hob-mounted basin sets are installed through the vanity top rather than the wall. They suit a bathroom with the right benchtop set-out and are a useful alternative where wall plumbing is not part of the plan.
  • Progressive basin mixers: A progressive mixer controls flow and temperature through one continuous turning motion, rather than a conventional lever. There are brushed nickel progressive options in the Nero Kara range if you prefer that operation and a pared-back, dial-like look.
  • Sensor and care mixers: Nero Mecca includes a brushed nickel sensor tap, while Nero Mecca Care and Fienza Kaya Care offer basin mixer options designed around easier, more accessible operation. Use the product filters to view these specific functions directly.

What we'd check before you buy

Basin height first. This is the most important call. A short basin mixer works with a lower inset or undermount bowl. An above-counter basin needs a tall mixer or a wall outlet that clears the rim. Getting the wrong height is how you end up with water hitting the back of the bowl or splashing over the benchtop.

Spout reach as well as mixer height. Two tall mixers can be the same height but have very different projections. Measure from the finished wall or tap hole to the centre of the basin bowl, then choose a spout that delivers water into the usable part of the basin, not right on the edge.

How the mixer will be mounted. Bench-mounted, hob-mounted, and wall-mounted tapware need different plumbing set-outs. If you are renovating, settle this with your plumber before waterproofing and tiling. It is a small decision early on and a major headache if it is changed later.

Visible plumbing below the vanity. If you have a wall-hung or open vanity, plan the basin waste and bottle trap at the same time as the mixer. A matching brushed nickel waste and trap will make the vanity look finished, not pieced together.

The exact finish across brands. Brushed nickel is a family of finishes, not one universal shade. Nero, Caroma, Phoenix, Fienza, and Meir are close but may not be identical in tone or brushing. If you are mixing brands, compare the samples or product imagery before committing to a full bathroom schedule.

Brushed nickel basin mixer prices at Buildmat

Entry-level short basin mixers and clearance designs are the sensible place to start for laundries, secondary bathrooms, and straightforward vanity upgrades. Mid-range basin mixers, tower mixers, and standard wall sets give most renovations the right balance of finish, function, and choice. At the premium end are complete basin sets, sensor taps, progressive mixers, larger vessel mixers, and design-led collections where the engineering, control style, and proportions are a more significant part of the purchase.

Finish the whole bathroom

Brushed nickel basin tapware is at its best when the rest of the room picks up the same softer metal tone. Pair your mixer with a brushed nickel basin waste and brushed nickel bottle trap if the plumbing will be visible. Then carry the finish into brushed nickel bath taps and spouts, shower hardware, and accessories.

The basin itself matters just as much. Browse above-counter basins when you want the drama of a tall mixer, or undermount basins when you want the benchtop to stay visually quiet. If you are choosing between finishes, compare brushed nickel with white basin mixers, black basin mixers, or the wider brushed nickel tapware range.

FAQS

They can, but the brushed texture is generally more forgiving than polished chrome. A soft cloth after use keeps water spots and soap residue from building up, particularly in hard-water areas.
Choose a tall basin mixer or a wall-mounted basin mixer. A standard short mixer usually sits too low to clear an above-counter basin rim. Measure the finished basin height and check both the mixer height and spout projection before ordering.
Yes, but it needs to look intentional. Brushed nickel is warmer and less reflective than chrome, so it is usually better to keep all the visible tapware at one vanity in the same finish. You can use chrome elsewhere, but compare them together first.
