Shop passage door handles by finish
Your door hardware is one of the most frequently touched surfaces in your home. The finish needs to be highly durable while perfectly matching your cabinet hardware and tapware.
-
Matte Black Door Handles: The go-to finish for modern, industrial, and high-contrast interiors. Matte black passage handles pair beautifully with black cabinet pulls and tapware.
-
Brushed Brass & Satin Brass: Warm, luxurious finishes that elevate plain white doors. We stock solid brass passage sets that will develop a beautiful natural patina over time.
-
Brushed Nickel: A softer, highly durable alternative to chrome. Satin nickel is highly resistant to fingerprints, making it ideal for busy family homes.
-
Gunmetal Grey: A sophisticated, moody finish that sits perfectly between stark black and bright chrome.
-
Polished Brass: The traditional choice for heritage homes, offering a bright, highly reflective gold finish.

What we'd check before you buy
- Passage or privacy? It sounds obvious, but it's the most common mistake. Bathrooms and bedrooms need a privacy set with an internal snib. Hallways, living rooms, and laundries need a passage set. Order the wrong one and you will need to return it.
- Tubular latch or mortice lock? Most standard residential doors use a tubular latch, which requires a simple hole drilled through the door face. Premium architectural doors and older homes often use a mortice lock, which requires a rectangular pocket cut into the edge of the door. These are not interchangeable, so check your door before ordering.
- Backset measurement: The backset is the distance from the edge of the door to the centre of the handle spindle hole. Check the product specification sheet for the backset your chosen set requires, and confirm your door is drilled to match before ordering.
- Rosette coverage: If you are replacing old hardware, the new rosette needs to be large enough to cover any paint shadow or hole left by the previous set. Check the rosette diameter in the product specifications.
- Matching your hardware schedule: Your passage levers will be seen every day alongside your cabinet handles and tapware. Confirm the finish matches across all your hardware before placing your order.

Understanding the different types of internal door hardware ensures you buy the correct set for the right door.
-
Privacy door handles: Designed for bathrooms and bedrooms. A privacy door handle looks identical to a passage handle from the outside but includes an internal snib or turn-button to lock the door.
-
Dummy levers: A fixed handle with no latch mechanism. Dummy levers are typically used on wardrobe doors or double doors where only one side needs to actively latch.
-
Door knobs: The classic, round alternative to a lever. Passage door knobs are perfect for heritage restorations or Hamptons-style homes.
-
Sliding door handles: For cavity sliders and barn doors, you will need a flush pull or edge pull rather than a standard passage lever.
-
Front door handles: Exterior doors require heavy-duty entrance sets, deadbolts, and mortice locks for security, rather than simple passage sets.
Complete the door
Don't forget the supporting hardware. You will need matching door hardware, including a door hinge and door stops to finish the installation.
