A shower arm does a much bigger job than people give it credit for. It determines where the shower head sits, how it clears the wall and user, and whether the final shower feels neatly considered or slightly off. Our range includes straight, curved, right-angle, upswept, high-rise, ceiling, swivel, round, and square shower arms across the full run of finishes, from chrome and brushed nickel to matte black, gunmetal, brushed brass, and brushed gold.

Wall-mounted shower heads and arms: Wall-mounted arms are the classic choice. They project from the shower wall and work with a compatible shower rose or overhead shower head. Choose the length and angle based on the depth of the shower, the wall position, and where you want the water to land.

Ceiling shower arms: A ceiling arm drops the shower head down from above for a true overhead rainfall position. It is ideal for a clean, open shower look, but it needs to be planned early because the plumbing has to run through the ceiling rather than the wall.

Curved shower arms: Curved arms soften the shower profile and give a round shower rose a more relaxed, flowing shape. They are a good fit in contemporary bathrooms where you are avoiding hard square lines, and they also add useful projection without looking overly long.

Right-angle and straight shower arms: A right-angle or straight arm suits square shower roses, architectural tile layouts, and cleaner-lined tapware. It is the straightforward choice when the rest of the room is built around crisp, geometric details.

High-rise and upswept shower arms: High-rise and upswept arms lift the shower rose higher and further into the shower area. They are handy when the wall outlet is low, the room will be used by taller people, or you want a more generous overhead position without moving the plumbing point.

Swivel shower arms: A swivel arm gives you some flexibility over the direction of the shower head. It is worth considering in a shared bathroom, a tight shower enclosure, or anywhere the exact shower position needs a little adjustment once the space is in use.

Shower sets and shower rails: If you want an overhead shower and a hand shower together, a complete shower set or rail may be a better answer than buying every component separately. It is a good way to make sure the shower arm, head, hose, and rail feel like one considered system.

What we'd check before you buy

Where the shower outlet is now. Your existing wall or ceiling plumbing point heavily influences the arm you can use without reworking the rough-in. If you are replacing an arm in an existing bathroom, measure from the finished wall and check the current outlet location before falling in love with a longer or higher style.

The finished height, not just the arm length. A 300mm arm and a 400mm arm do not tell the full story. The angle of the arm, the depth of the shower rose, and the height of the outlet all affect the final position of the shower head. Think about the person using the shower as well as how the arm looks on a product page.

Wall-mounted or ceiling-mounted plumbing. A ceiling shower arm cannot simply replace a wall arm, and vice versa. The plumbing route is different, so decide which effect you want before the ceiling and walls are closed up. If you are unsure, your plumber can confirm what the existing set-out will allow.

Compatibility with the shower head. Check the connection, the shower arm profile, and the size and weight of your chosen rain shower head. We would always choose the arm and shower rose together where possible, particularly when the finish needs to match exactly.

Match the finish through the shower zone. Pick up the shower arm finish in the shower head, mixer, rail, hose, shelf, and glass hardware where possible. If you are mixing brands, do not assume every Brushed Nickel, Matte Black, or Brushed Gold is an exact match. Compare the finish names and product imagery before ordering.

Shower arm prices at Buildmat

Standard straight wall arms and simple ceiling arms sit at the accessible end of the range and are a practical option for straightforward replacements. Curved, upswept, high-rise, longer projection, and swivel styles sit through the middle, where you are paying for more complex shaping, length, or flexibility. At the premium end are coordinated shower-arm and rose sets, larger architectural profiles, and specialist finishes where the arm is part of a wider premium shower system.

Finish the whole shower space

Your shower arm should match the rest of the shower hardware, starting with the head itself. Browse rain shower heads, dual shower heads, and hand-held shower heads to build the right combination for your bathroom.

For colour, compare chrome shower heads, matte black shower heads, brushed nickel shower heads, gunmetal shower heads, and brushed brass gold shower heads. Then finish the zone with a compatible shower mixer, shower hose, and shelf or accessory that makes sense for the way you use the room.

FAQS

Not always. Many shower arms and heads use compatible standard connections, but you should still check the individual product specifications, connection type, and any brand-specific requirements before buying. The easiest route is to choose the arm and shower head from the same range.
Choose a wall arm when you want a familiar, easier-to-plan shower setup from an existing wall outlet. Choose a ceiling arm when you want a true overhead rain-shower position and your plumbing can be run through the ceiling. The final look is very different, so make the call before the rough-in is finished.
Measure the shower area and choose an arm that places the shower head over the usable standing space, rather than right against the wall or shower screen. The right length depends on the outlet height, head size, shower depth, and whether the arm is straight, curved, or angled.
