3 in 1 Bathroom Heater Fan Light
We supply 3 in 1 bathroom heaters to homeowners, electricians and builders replacing fitting out a new bathroom, ensuite or powder room. The range is matched to room size, ceiling height and cavity depth, not just how many lamps are on the fascia. Filter by brand and price, and see our wider bathroom heating and ventilation range for exhaust-only fans and wall heaters.
Why choose a 3 in 1 bathroom heater
A 3 in 1 puts heat, extraction and light into one hole in the ceiling. That saves space, keeps the ceiling clean, and means one installation instead of three. For Melbourne bathrooms that go from icy at 6am to full of steam five minutes later, it covers both problems from the same unit.
Infrared heat lamps warm you directly rather than the air, so you feel the heat within seconds of switching on, with no waiting for the room to come up to temperature. The built-in exhaust fan clears steam once you're done, and the centre light means you don't need a separate downlight. Many models in the range also include back draught flaps that stop warm air escaping into the roof when the fan is off.
3 in 1 bathroom heater exhaust fan and light by type
- Classic heat lamp 3 in 1s: Square fascia units with two or four infrared heat lamps around a centre LED, including the IXL Tastic Vivid, Triumph, Paramount, Silhouette and Eco Sensation, and the Ventair Klein, Myka, Brook and Sierra ranges.
- Premium 3 in 1s: Low-profile units with high-output heat lamps and stronger extraction, including IXL Tastic Ovation and Luminate models and the Ventair Capri, Rio and Airbus 3 in 1, with silver and matte black finishes on selected models.
- Easy duct and ducted models: IXL Tastic Easy Duct units and selected Ventair models designed to vent straight outside, some with ducting included in the box.
- Heat-only and 2 in 1 units: IXL Tastic Luminate heat modules for heat without a fan or light, and the Tastic Vivid 2 in 1 for heat and light only.
- Wall-mounted fan heaters: IXL Winflow plug-in fan heaters for bathrooms, laundries and toilets where a ceiling unit isn't practical.
What we'd check before you buy
How many heat lamps the room needs. Two lamps suit a small ensuite or powder room, while four lamps or a high-output single lamp suits a family bathroom. Each listing shows the room size the unit is rated for with and without a shower, so match that to your floor area rather than going on looks.
Your ceiling height. Heat lamps lose punch the further away they are. Most units are rated up to a 2.7m ceiling, but some stop at 2.4m and a few go to 3.3m. If you've got a raked or high ceiling, check the maximum on the listing before you choose.
Your existing cutout. This is the question we get most from people replacing an old Tastic. Several IXL Tastic models share a 330 x 330mm cutout, so a like-for-like swap often goes straight back into the same hole. Larger rectangular units like the Luminate and Ovation need a bigger cutout, which means patching or recutting the plaster.
Ceiling cavity depth. Units need anywhere from around 220mm to over 300mm of space above the ceiling, depending on the model. On low-pitched roofs or near the eaves, measure before you order.
Where the exhaust is going. Under the NCC condensation rules for new homes, bathroom exhaust generally has to be ducted outside. Some units include ducting and an outlet in the box and some don't, so check the listing so your electrician turns up with everything they need.
The wall switch. A 3 in 1 needs a separate switch for each lamp group, the fan and the light. Customers often forget this when replacing a basic exhaust fan, and end up needing a new three- or four-gang switch plate. Some models include the switch, so check what's in the box.
