What to Consider Before Buying a Gooseneck Kitchen Tap
Spout height and sink depth
Gooseneck mixer taps are specifically designed to clear deep bowls - but confirm the spout height clears your sink rim with enough room to work comfortably. Most gooseneck spouts sit 160-220mm above the deck. If your sink bowl is 200mm deep, a standard squareline mixer with a 150mm spout will barely clear the rim; a gooseneck is the right call.
We see this come up constantly: someone buys a fixed gooseneck kitchen tap for a farmhouse sink and the spout height is still only 160mm above the deck. The bowl is 220mm deep. The water hits the front wall, not the basin. Always check the deck-to-spout height against the bowl rim height - not the deck-to-bowl depth. Add at least 100mm of clearance above the rim for comfortable use.
Pull-out hose length
Gooseneck pull-out sink mixers vary in hose length (typically 550-700mm). If your sink is wide - a double bowl or large single - confirm the hose reach covers the full bowl before ordering. The Alma Mira and Nero Mecca pull-out ranges have good hose reach; the Oliveri Venice is slightly shorter.
Tap hole size and position
Standard Australian tap holes are 35mm. Most gooseneck kitchen mixers in our range are 35mm - confirm before ordering if you're replacing an existing tap. Tap landing sinks have the mounting platform built into the sink itself; benchtop tap holes are drilled separately.
WELS 4 star rating
All gooseneck mixers at Buildmat are WELS 4 star rated. Flow rate varies by model - standard gooseneck mixers typically run 7-9L/min; pull-out formats with veggie spray function may run slightly lower. Check individual product specs for exact flow rates.
316 vs 304 stainless steel
For outdoor or alfresco kitchen gooseneck taps, specify 316-grade marine stainless. The Oliveri Essente 316 and Phoenix Linq 316 are the outdoor-rated options in our gooseneck range. For indoor kitchen use, 304-grade stainless or solid brass with PVD coating is the standard.
Gooseneck Taps That Elevate Style, Reach, and Everyday Function
Gooseneck taps combine graceful arching form with practical high-arc clearance, making routine tasks like washing hands, filling pots, and cleaning large cookware more efficient and visually striking. Buildmat's gooseneck tap range delivers refined design, robust performance, and versatile operation for kitchens, bathrooms, and laundries across Australia.
Versatile & Functional Cleaning with No Awkward Angles
Featuring a tall, curved design, gooseneck kitchen mixers offer ample clearance above the sink, making it easy to wash and rinse even the largest pots and pans. With a single lever control, adjusting water temperature and flow rate is straightforward, making these taps ideal for multitasking in the kitchen.
- High-arc clearance - tall curved spout easily accommodates deep kitchen sinks, farmhouse sinks, and large cookware
- 360° swivel action - full rotation directs water flow exactly where it's needed; ideal for double bowl sinks
- Single-lever operation - smooth ergonomic control of temperature and flow with one hand
- Ceramic disc cartridges - drip-free performance and long-term reliability under heavy use
- Dual spray function - available on pull-out models; switches between stream and spray for rinsing produce and cleaning the sink
Tapware Finishes to Complement Your Space
Choose a finish that ties your gooseneck tap in with your kitchen tapware and surfaces:
- Chrome - classic reflective shine; the most durable and lowest-maintenance finish; suits any kitchen style
- Brushed nickel - satin-textured silver that resists fingerprints and pairs with stone benchtops; the most forgiving finish for a busy kitchen
- Matte black - bold low-sheen contrast against light cabinetry; the black gooseneck kitchen tap is one of our most popular finish requests
- Gunmetal - deep charcoal metallic for an industrial or contemporary kitchen
- Brushed brass gold - warm lustrous accent that enriches timber cabinetry and marble benchtops
- Brushed gold - warm metallic sheen; slightly lighter and more contemporary than brushed brass
- Brushed bronze - warm brown-grey tone; suits earthy and natural stone kitchens; the Nero Mecca in brushed bronze is the main option in this format
- Matte white - tonal white finish; suits all-white or minimal kitchens; the Nero Mecca matte white pull-out is the primary option
- 316 stainless steel - marine-grade for outdoor/alfresco kitchens; the Oliveri Essente and Gareth Ashton 316 cover this format
- Brushed vintage antique brass - aged, heritage tone; suits country and Hamptons kitchen styles; the Alma Ashanti and Mira in brushed vintage antique brass are the main options
Gooseneck Styles for Every Application
Buildmat's gooseneck kitchen mixer taps come in on-trend finishes to complement different kitchen styles. From a moody matte black gooseneck tap to an elegant brushed brass gold, to a classic brushed nickel, find your finish for a stylish, functional kitchen.
- Fixed gooseneck sink mixer - clean-lined stationary spout; minimalist profile; the Alma Ashanti and Nero Dolce are the entry points
- Gooseneck pull-out mixer tap - retractable spray head concealed within the arch; the Alma Mira, Nero Mecca, Caroma Liano II, and Caroma Urbane II are the main pull-out gooseneck sink mixer options
- Swivel gooseneck tap - extended rotation for large or double bowl sinks; the Oliveri Venice pull-out swivel covers this format
Plus, gooseneck taps aren't limited to the kitchen. A high-arc spout works particularly well above above-counter basins in bathrooms, where standard basin mixer spout heights often don't clear the bowl rim. They also suit laundry sinks where filling buckets and deep tubs is a regular task.
- Kitchen sink mixers - streamline meal prep and cleanup with generous reach and swivel control
- Bathroom basin mixers - elevated clearance for vessel and above-counter basins
- Laundry taps - simplify filling laundry tubs and buckets without bending or splashing
