Buildmat stocks coat hooks for builders, designers and homeowners across Australia, with the range covering commercial-grade hardware as well as home entryways — antimicrobial finishes for schools and washrooms, concealed fixings where a visible screw would look wrong, and sizes from 20mm up to 84mm. Whether you need one wall hook for a bedroom or living room, a hook for a mudroom or a dozen for a commercial changeroom, filter by size, fixing type and finish above.

Coat hook types we stock

  • Hat and coat hooks: The standard single hook, in sizes from 20mm through to 84mm and fixings from basic visible-fix through to fully concealed fix.

  • Double coat hooks: Two hanging points on one wall plate, useful where you want a coat and a bag on the same fixing without doubling up on screws.

  • Collapsible coat hooks: Fold flat against the wall when not in use, a common choice for commercial changerooms and tight entryways.

  • Coat hooks with bumper: A rubber bumper sits between the hook and the wall, so a heavy coat swinging against the wall doesn't mark the paint.

  • Antimicrobial finish hooks: The Moda range in antimicrobial finish, built for schools, healthcare and commercial washrooms where hygiene matters more than finish.

Coat hook colours for every style

Our range of coat hooks come in a range of styles to suit every aesthetic, including:

  • Bright chrome

  • Brushed aluminium

  • Matte black

  • Polished stainless steel

  • Satin chrome

  • Satin stainless steel

What we'd check before you buy

  • Visible fix vs concealed fix. A concealed fix hook hides the screw entirely for a cleaner look, but it needs the fixing installed before the final wall finish goes on in some cases. A visible fix hook is simpler to retrofit onto an existing wall, with the screw on show.

  • Size for the load. A 20mm hook suits light items — scarves, keys, a tea towel. The 84mm hooks are sized for a heavy winter coat. Going too small for what you're actually hanging is the most common mismatch we see.

  • Antimicrobial vs standard finish. The antimicrobial finish costs slightly less than polished stainless in this range, but it's a genuinely different material spec, not just a colour option — worth choosing deliberately for a commercial washroom rather than defaulting to it.

  • Matching the rest of your hardware. Metlam's chrome plate and stainless steel won't necessarily match exactly against door handles or towel rails from other brands. If you're running one finish through an entryway, check a sample against your existing hardware first.

Coat hook prices at Buildmat

Coat hooks here span a wide range. Basic chrome plate and antimicrobial hooks start from around $7 to $18. Designer black and satin stainless steel options sit in the mid-range, from around $15 to $37. Concealed-fix polished stainless steel and the larger designer black hooks run higher, up to around $50.

Complete your home with Buildmat

  • Robe hooks: A softer, bathroom-specific alternative if you're hanging a robe rather than a coat. Single robe hooks and double robe hooks.

  • Towel rails: For the rest of the bathroom, in matching finishes.

  • Door hardware: Handles, hinges and stops for the doors near your entryway.

  • Cabinet handles: If your entryway includes built-in storage.

FAQS

Go for one of the larger hooks in the range, around 80-84mm, rather than the smaller 20-44mm options, which suit lighter items like scarves and bags.
Yes, Metlam is a commercial washroom and architectural hardware brand, and several finishes in this range, including antimicrobial, are designed for schools, healthcare and commercial changerooms as well as homes.
