Shop clawfoot baths for a statement centrepiece in period or classic-style bathrooms. This range covers acrylic tubs in 1500mm and 1700mm, with and without overflow. Filter by size below, or check our bathroom renovation guide if you're still working out where the tub sits in the wider layout.
Shop clawfoot baths by size
- 1500mm – suits a standard-size main bathroom without crowding the rest of the layout.
- 1700mm – for a bathroom with the floor space to make the tub the actual focal point, not just another fixture.
- With overflow – we'd tell most customers to go with the overflow model unless the household is very good at not overfilling a bath.
What we'd check before you buy a clawfoot bath
- Floor clearance – a freestanding tub needs space on all sides, not just against a wall. Measure the full footprint before ordering, including the door swing.
- Waste and overflow position – confirm your plumber can work with a freestanding waste in the tub's position, since it's not always a like-for-like swap with a built-in bath.
- Tapware mounting – freestanding baths generally pair with a floor-mounted filler, not wall-mounted tapware. Check this before you order tapware separately.
- Weight on the floor – acrylic clawfoot baths are lighter than the old cast iron originals, but a full 1700mm tub still holds a lot of water once filled. Worth mentioning to your builder if it's an upper floor.
- Room to move around it – we see this one a lot with the 1700mm size specifically, people love the look in photos and then find it eats more floor space than expected once it's actually in the room.
Clawfoot bath prices at Buildmat
The current range runs from around $1,340 to $1,450, with the 1700mm size at the lower end of that band and the 1500mm slightly higher depending on whether it includes overflow.
Finish the bathroom
- Bath tapware – check floor-mounted options specifically, since wall-mounted spouts won't suit a freestanding tub.
- Freestanding bath fillers – the tapware style most clawfoot baths are actually designed around.
- Bathroom towel rails – worth positioning within reach of the tub, not just near the shower.
- Bathroom robe hooks – a small finishing touch next to a statement bath.
