The profile of your cabinet hardware determines how it functions and how it sits against your joinery.
- Pull handles: The most versatile option for modern and traditional spaces. A standard pull handle is easy to grip and works equally well mounted horizontally on drawers or vertically on cupboard doors.
- D-handles: A classic, curved D-pull handle offers a comfortable, ergonomic grip that is perfect for heavy kitchen drawers and high-traffic areas.
- Cabinet knobs: Simple, understated, and timeless. Use door knobs on upper overhead cupboards, or pair them with cup pulls on lower drawers for a classic farmhouse or Hamptons look.
- Lip pull handles: For a sleek, minimalist aesthetic. Lip pulls mount to the top or side edge of the door, creating a handle-less look without the mechanical complexity of push-to-open hardware.
- Flush pulls: Recessed directly into the timber, flush pulls sit completely flat against the door face. Ideal for sliding doors or ultra-modern, flat-profile cabinetry.
- Half moon handles: A striking, contemporary choice. When two half moon handles are mounted side-by-side on double doors, they form a complete circle.
- Appliance pulls: Heavy-duty, oversized pull handles designed specifically to handle the weight and suction of integrated fridges and dishwashers.
Shop cabinet handles by finish
Your hardware finish should tie the room together. We stock handles in every major architectural finish to ensure you can match your tapware and lighting perfectly.
- Brushed Brass & Brushed Gold: Warm, luxurious, and highly popular in contemporary design. We also stock satin brass and polished brass options.
- Matte Black: The go-to finish for industrial, modern, and high-contrast spaces. Black handles pop beautifully against timber or white cabinetry.
- Brushed Nickel & Satin Chrome: A softer, warmer alternative to standard chrome. Brushed nickel is highly forgiving with fingerprints and water marks.
- Bronze & Antique Brass: For heritage, Hamptons, or rustic interiors. Look for aged brass, antique bronze finishes for an authentic, lived-in patina.
- Gunmetal: A sophisticated, moody finish that sits perfectly between stark black and bright chrome.
- Stainless Steel & Polished Chrome: The classic, durable choice for high-traffic kitchens and commercial spaces.
- White Cabinet Handles: Perfect for blending hardware seamlessly into white polyurethane joinery.
- Timber Handles: Bring warmth and texture to your space with natural oak and walnut handles.
What we check before you buy cabinet handles
Replacing existing handles or drilling new joinery requires careful planning. Here is what you need to confirm before ordering.
- Hole centre-to-centre measurements: If you are replacing existing handles, you must measure the exact distance between the two screw holes (the "centre-to-centre" measurement). Standard sizes include 96mm, 128mm, 160mm cabinet handles, 192mm, and 320mm.
- Overall length vs hole centres: Do not confuse the overall length of the handle with the hole centre measurement. A handle might be 200mm long overall, but the screw holes might only be 160mm apart. Always check the specification sheet.
- Proportions: A massive 600mm appliance pull will look ridiculous on a small 300mm wide drawer. Conversely, a tiny 30mm knob will be frustrating to use on a heavy, 900mm wide pot drawer. Scale your hardware to the size and weight of the door.
- Material weight: Premium solid brass handles feel significantly heavier and more luxurious in the hand than hollow aluminium or zinc alloy handles. This weight difference is noticeable every time you open a door.
Cabinet handle prices at Buildmat
The price of cabinet hardware is driven by the material and the manufacturing process. Lightweight aluminium and zinc alloy handles are the most affordable option, making them perfect for large-scale renovations or budget-conscious updates. Mid-range handles typically feature more complex finishes, like PVD brushed nickel or gunmetal. At the premium end, solid brass cabinet handles and large appliance pulls command a higher price, reflecting the raw material cost and the superior, weighty feel they deliver.
