• Wall mounted shower heads – give you directional reach for angled controlled rinsing.

• Shower mixers – wall-mounted tap that controls temperature and flow. The starting point for any shower fitout. Available as a basic mixer or with an integrated diverter for twin shower setups. Confirm whether you're roughing in for a single or twin outlet before the wall is tiled – adding a diverter afterwards is a bigger job than planning for it upfront.

• Shower heads and arms – fixed overhead shower heads in round and square profiles, paired with wall arms, ceiling shower heads and arms, curved arms and hi-rise upswept arms. The arm type determines where the head ends up relative to the wall outlet – worth choosing before rough-in if you want the head positioned centrally in the shower zone.
• Rain shower heads – large-format overhead heads from 250mm upward for broad, even coverage. Suits walk-in showers and ensuites where a softer, more immersive water feel is the priority. Worth noting: a large-diameter rain head spreads water over a wider area, so at the same household pressure it feels softer than a compact fixed head. If your bathroom already has low pressure, a smaller fixed head will perform better.
• Hand held shower heads – attached to a shower rail or hose for adjustable height and directed rinsing. Useful for families with children, rinsing shower bases and anyone who wants flexibility beyond a fixed overhead head.
• Shower rails – adjustable height rail for a hand shower. Most commonly paired with a fixed overhead head via a diverter for a twin shower setup.
• Shower sets – mixer, head, arm and rail in a single matched purchase. The most efficient way to fit out a new shower without sourcing each piece separately. Available as complete sets from Alma Mira, Nero Dolce and Phoenix ranges.
• Twin showers – fixed overhead head plus hand shower on a rail, controlled via a diverter. Available as compact twin setups for smaller showers.
• Shower hoses – replacement and upgrade hoses in matching finishes. Easy to overlook but visible in use – worth matching to the hand shower and mixer finish.
• Shower roses – traditional circular shower heads with a multi-hole face. Practical replacement option for older Australian bathrooms.
• Outdoor showers – 316 stainless steel shower tapware for exterior use. The Nero Zen and Phoenix Enviro316 ranges are the key options for coastal and alfresco installations.

One thing worth knowing about rain shower heads and water pressure: a large-diameter rain head – 250mm and above – spreads water across a wider area, which means at the same household pressure it feels softer and less forceful than a smaller fixed head. If pressure is already low in your bathroom, a compact fixed head will perform better than a large rain head. What we'd check before you buy shower taps

Match mixer and head from the same range for brushed finishes

In chrome, mixing brands is generally fine – most chrome finishes are close enough that it's not noticeable. In brushed finishes – brushed brass, brushed nickel, brushed gunmetal – there's enough variation between brands that mixing them can be visible under bathroom lighting. If finish consistency matters, stay within one brand range.

Diverter or no diverter

If you want to switch between an overhead fixed head and a hand shower from the same mixer, you need a diverter – either built into the mixer or as a separate wall-mounted diverter plate. Confirm with your plumber whether the rough-in is for a single or twin outlet before the wall is waterproofed and tiled.

Shower arm type vs plumbing position

If the water outlet comes from the wall, you need a wall arm – straight, curved, hi-rise upswept or gooseneck. If the outlet is in the ceiling, a ceiling arm gives you a clean overhead drop. The arm type determines where the head ends up, so confirm your plumbing position before choosing.

WELS rating

Every shower head in the range carries a WELS water efficiency star rating. A 3-star rated shower head uses around 9L/min, a 4-star around 7.5L/min. Check individual product listings if water efficiency is part of your renovation brief.
