It's our first recommendation for small bathrooms where the goal is to maximise the sense of space. A freestanding vanity in a small bathroom can absolutely work — particularly for Hamptons or period-style bathrooms where the aesthetic calls for it — but we'd steer you toward a slimline or narrow profile to avoid the unit dominating the room.

One thing we always flag: don't just measure width. Check the depth too. Standard bathroom vanities are 460mm deep, but many of our slimline and compact options run shallower — some as little as 350mm — which can make a meaningful difference in a narrow bathroom.
