Why did we design the Buildmat Ella Corner Sink?

The more and more we speak to our customers, the more we have come to understand that people aren't simply looking for products for their kitchen but rather solutions that are tailored to their kitchen needs. Buildmat has reviewed and consulted on all the pain points and frustrations that come along with kitchen design and some key highlights have been made very clear; dead cupboard space and unused corner bench spaces. 

There was nothing available on the market that catered to these spaces that were stylish in design, well-constructed and above all, high quality. Combining the two key pain points together; hard to use corner cupboards and wasted spaces, Buildmat designed a functional yet elegant symmetrical stainless steel kitchen sink that is highly versatile. 

Not only is it space-efficient but maximises the use of your counter top, including those smaller spaces and unused corners. Introducing the Buildmat Ella Corner Sink, the perfect solution for your small kitchen areas and unused cupboard and bench spaces. 

What did we consider when designing the sink?

We found that the only solutions that were available were either using a small single bowl sink or choosing a topmount corner kitchen sink that was designed for drop in or inset sink installations only. The only problem was that these topmount corner sinks were not symmetrical and always forced you to have an odd drainboard. 

This is why we decided to design that was symmetrical so it was still appealing and had the functionality of a double bowl sink, and also adding a modern low profile lip so that it could be installed both as an undermount sink or topmount sink and still have high functionality and utilisation of the corner in the kitchen and utilising the awkward kitchen cabinet space. 

What's the configuration?

We've decided that making it symmetrical eliminates the confusion for customers to try and figure out whether they want a left hand or right hand sink. We have purposely removed the drainer because we know that most people have dishwashers these days and the drainer is what's making the corner sinks unattractive. 

we've also added a tap hole on the sink with its own tap landing, this is to avoid confusion for the customer or installer of where to put the tap, the time can be spent choosing the perfect tapware instead. The sink also comes with 2 strainers in the box, one for each sink waste so you don't need to figure out which strainer to purchase. 

Are accessories available for the corner sink?

The only accessory that would work with the corner sink is the roll mat, and part of the roll mat would extend onto the bench top. 

Unfortunately, we wouldn't recommend the dish rack, colander or chopping boards for the corner sink because it wouldn't fit.

What material is the Buildmat Ella Corner Sink Available in?

The Buildmat Ella Corner Sink is made of 304 Stainless Steel which is food grade stainless steel, it's also made as a 1.5mm premium thickness stainless steel whereas most other brands would only be 0.8 - 1.2mm stainless steel sinks. Yes we know, we've produced a beautiful brushed stainless steel finish on all our sinks, and yes we are using a very high quality stainless steel but unfortunately, scratches are inevitable on steel. Useful space

I have been a big fan of corner sinks for years. Makes the corner useful and gives us some bench space under the window where we have also reclaimed space in the cupboard underneath where the old sink was. Impressed with the quality build. We put in a Mecca Chrome Pull Out Sink Mixer, the sinks are deep as we don’t want to be hauling out heavy pots of water. Delivery was on time.
Very happy, highly recommended.
